Habitat to dedicate two homes Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN —Habitat for Humanity is expecting a large group of volunteers, sponsors, families and well wishers at 10 a.m. Saturday to dedicate two new homes at 16 and 20 Maranatha Dr.

The houses are being built for the families of Pamela Gibbs and Wendy Heard. Ground was broken on them Feb. 28. Since then hundreds of volunteers worked on the houses six days a week.

These two families have been working hard as Habitat partner families to meet Habitat’s income and credit guidelines as well as to complete the 250 hours of “sweat equity” that they will need before they move in. These families will buy these homes from Habitat at cost with a no-interest loan.

Without donations totaling more than $150,000, these homes would not be possible. At the dedication, the public is welcome to tour the new houses.
