A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

July 1

Theft: A 21-speed bicycle was from a Katahdin Drive home.

July 2

Drugs: Officers stopped a car on U.S. Route 224, where a 17-year-old Brookfield boy was cited on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

July 3

Drugs: A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old New Galilee, Pa., woman on a drug-abuse charge when, officers said, 3 grams of suspected marijuana were found.

July 4

Theft: A purse and checkbook were among items removed from a vehicle in the 2300 block of Lyon Boulevard.

July 5

Arrest: A township woman, 26, was charged with driving under suspension after being pulled over on state Route 170.

BOARDMAN

July 1

Drugs: A search warrant at a West Boulevard apartment led to an additional drug-abuse charge against a 22-year-old township woman housed at the Mahoning County Jail.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 5800 block of West Boulevard. Among the items stolen were an MP3 player and a $200 car stereo.

Theft: Twenty-nine compact discs were missing from a car at a McClurg Road business.

Trespassing: Two people were on property on Mathews Road after having been evicted and asked not to return.

July 2

Attempted theft: A 2-foot section of fence was cut in the 100 block of Prestwick Drive, and someone apparently tried to steal a riding mower.

Attempted burglary: Someone broke a garage window at a home in the 3900 block of Hudson Drive.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 7200 block of Market Street led to a 59-year-old township man’s being taken into custody on a probation-violation charge.

Aggravated menacing: An Erskine Avenue woman told authorities another woman left messages stating her intent to kill the victim.

Menacing: A Huntington Drive woman reported her former boyfriend made at least 30 unwanted calls, some of which were threatening.

Theft: Someone entered a car at the Southern Park Mall and took a chain saw, an amplifier and two 12-inch basses.

Stolen property: A township man, 28, faced a felony count of receiving stolen property after being accused of bringing a $1,500 laptop computer to Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road, to have certain passwords removed. The employee learned the computer had been stolen, a report showed.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 7400 block of West Boulevard. Stolen was a $650 laptop computer.

Theft: A Youngstown girl, 16, was charged in the theft of $166 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: Someone entered a home in the 7300 block of Sierra Madre Drive and took $250 and numerous medications.

Assault: A Bristlewood Drive man told officers a neighbor swung an umbrella in an attempt to strike the accuser, who was not injured.

Theft: A teenage girl stole 20 articles of clothing valued at a total of $700 from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft/vandalism: A piece of rental property in the 4800 block of Brookwood Road had been damaged, and a refrigerator and stove were stolen.

July 3

Theft: A 17-year-old girl was accused in the theft of a $3 shirt from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Two Ohio Lottery tickets were stolen from behind a sales counter at Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Criminal damaging: An apartment door jamb and lock were broken in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle, resulting in a $300 damage estimate.

Theft: A Youngstown woman, 40, was charged after $328 worth of clothing was taken from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A Youngstown man, 18, was charged, accused of taking $94 worth of clothing from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Burglary: To a residence in the 1800 block of Oles Avenue.

Theft: A $150 ring and money were missing from a vehicle at a Southern Boulevard business.

Recovered property: Police found in the 3500 block of Hillman Way a stolen 1993 Oldsmobile.

July 4

Burglary: To an apartment in the 100 block of Terrace Drive that had its front door pried open.

Indecency: A Midlothian Boulevard woman told police she allowed a neighbor to use her phone and alleged the neighbor exposed himself.

Criminal damaging: A car hood sustained $500 worth of damage in the 7400 block of Oregon Trail.

Breaking and entering: Someone lifted a garage door and removed $100 worth of gardening tools in the 100 block of Jeannette Drive.

Attempted auto theft: A 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis in the 4000 block of Hillman Way had its steering column damaged, evidently when someone had tried to steal the car.

July 5

Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen at a business in the 1300 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road store.
