1080 Media to face Rondinelli in finals


STRUTHERS — 1080 Media scored three times in the second and added a pair of runs in the sixth to defeat Wharmby Sports, 5-3, and sweep the Class B League semifinal series Monday at Cene Park.

1080 will open the finals on Wednesday night.

Anthony Raschilla started the three-run second inning with a triple and he scored the first run on a single by Vinny Natoli. A double by Paul Indrihovic drove home the other two runs.

Brad Byers drove home the two runs with a single in the sixth.

Justin Summers went the first four innings for the win striking out four. Natoli went the final three innings for the save, striking out three.

Ben Bechtol had a pair of hits for Wharmby.

Rondinelli Tuxedo 5, Astro Falcons 0

Aaron McGhee tossed a seven hit-shutout as Rondinelli finished a sweep of Astro.

McGhee struck out five and walked just two and after scoring a pair of unearned single runs in the third and fourth inning Rondinelli tallied three times in the top of the seventh inning on a run-scoring single by Phil Lipari and a two RBI single by Jason Bagoly.

Bagoly, Kyle Vaclav, and McGhee had two hits each for Rondinelli while Bryan Visingardi had two hits for the Astro Falcons along with Kyle Allen.

Little B

Dan Mioni allowed just five hits and went the distance as Roth Brothers defeated Youngstown Express 4-2 to sweep the series.

Brock McGivern had a triple while Ben Smith had a run-scoring double for Roth. Mioni struck out four. Joe Markovich had a pair of hits and scored both runs for the Express.

Astro Falcons 6, 1080 Media 1

Jim Behnke tossed a one-hit complete game as Astro completed a sweep.

Astro will face Roth Brothers in the championship series starting today at 7 p.m.

Behnke struck out eight while walking just two. Sutton Whiting, Tim Audia, John Beatty, and Gerrad Rohan had two hits each for Astro while Anthony Alfano had a sixth inning single for the only hit for 1080 Media.

Alfano also tossed two scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts.

Bids on the line

OTN Performance and Dave Sugar Excavating will play at 6 p.m. today for a Palomino Tournament bid, followed by Wharmby Sports and the Astro Falcons playing at 8 p.m. in a playoff for a tournament bid.
