Girard woman arrested on firearms charges

GIRARD — Dawn L. Greathouse, 38, of the 200 block of Smithonsonian Street was charged with improperly handling firearms, using a weapon while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon after a witness called police at about 12:56 a.m. Sunday and told them that a woman was firing a handgun. Police found 12 .45-cal. shell casings in the area.

Greathouse was checked for weapons and police found a folding knife in her pocket. After she told police she had put the gun in her residence, a search yielded a Glock 45, which was taken into evidence. She was processed, advised of charges and released.
