2 injured in shooting
YOUNGSTOWN — Two local men were charged with felonious assault after each was treated for gunshot wounds.
Anthony McGee, 39, of West Boulevard, Boardman, was shot three times in the legs, and Leighland Johnson, 23, of Inverness Avenue, Youngstown, was shot once in the arm.
Both were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot just before midnight Saturday on LaBelle Avenue.
McGee told police he was attacked by people he knew, but he didn’t know who shot him. Johnson told police that he was in an argument with McGee when McGee pulled a gun. The two men struggled, and McGee shot him, reports said.
Wallet, check theft reported
YOUNGSTOWN — A 23-year-old LaBelle Avenue man said his wallet containing $1,900 in cash and a government-aid check were stolen by men working on his car.
The man told police that he was having a sound system installed in his car by four men on East Lucius Avenue about 2 p.m. Saturday. The father of one of the men said they had to finish the job somewhere else, so they went to an abandoned house on East Marion Avenue, reports said.
The victim said he was asked to hold a wire under the hood of the car. While his back was turned, someone stole his wallet from his back pocket, reports said. He told police that he ran when one of the men pointed a gun at him.
2 stabbed at Trumbull fair
WARREN — Two people were stabbed Sunday at the Trumbull County Fair and taken to St. Joseph Health Center.
A person was arrested after the stabbings about 8:30 p.m. and taken to the county jail. Deputy sheriffs were unable to provide the names of those involved or how the stabbings occurred.
The extent of the injuries also was unknown at press time.
Public-indecency charge
YOUNGSTOWN — Jerome McGee, 27, of North Glenellen Avenue was charged with public indecency after police received reports of a man exposing himself at Mahoning and Schenley avenues.
When police arrived at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, they saw McGee with his hand down his pants, reports said.
Over the past couple of months, police have received reports from residents, area workers and school crossing guards about a man acting indecently in the area.
Police found a witness Saturday who reported seeing McGee masturbating in front of the West Side library branch on Mahoning.
Cemetery flag removal
YOUNGSTOWN — The United Veterans Council of Greater Youngstown will meet at Calvary Cemetery, 248 S. Belle Vista Ave., at 8 a.m. Saturday to remove flags from all graves.
The public is invited to obtain serviceable flags for personal use and should arrive early before a flag-burning ceremony begins.
