The Links presents check for Headstart programs

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown chapter of The Links, Incorporated, recently presented a check for $1,850 to the MYCAP Headstart Program.

The donation will be used to purchase books for each child’s personal use.

In addition to this donation, the scholarship committee, chaired by Dr. Alison Harmon, awarded two college scholarships in the amount of $1,500. Other donations include a check to the National Links Foundation to purchase “Mama Kits” for women in Africa during childbirth, a book bag and school supply project to P. Ross Middle School and a donation to The Beatitude House. Also provided were three follow-up sessions for participants of “300 Sisters in Red,” at which each was given a book, “This Year I Will ...” The organization is committed to fulfilling its goal to provide support and services to community causes.

On July 19, the organization will have a “Jeans and Jewels” Texas-style barbecue. The event will be from 3-7 p.m. at Charlie Staples restaurant, 372, W. Rayen Ave. and will feature a live band. Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased from any member.
