YOUNGSTOWN — The Council on Foundations, a national professional association based in Washington, D.C., has notified The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley that it has met the nation’s highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity and accountability. The National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations Program requires community foundations to document their policies for donor services, investments, grant-making and administration. With more than 200 community foundations already confirmed in compliance nationwide, the program is designed to provide quality assurance to donors, as well as to their legal and financial advisors.
YOUNGSTOWN — Packer Thomas has been named one of the Best Employers in Ohio for the second year in a row by the Ohio Society for Human Resources and Best Companies Group. Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey to determine the best employers, which included a confidential employee survey and an employer survey. Packer Thomas has 50 employees at offices in Youngstown and New Castle, Pa.
TOLEDO — Veteran trial attorney James Yavorcik was elected president of the Toledo Bar Association for a one-year term. He is a native of Youngstown and a 1972 graduate of Ursuline High School. He is a co-owner of the Cubbon and Associates law firm. Yavorcik received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University and a law degree from the University of Toledo.
