GIRARD — A well-child immunization clinic will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Girard Health Department, in the city building.
A $5 administrative fee will be charged per child. Dr. James J. Enyeart, medical director, will conduct the examinations. Parents are reminded to take a copy of the child’s immunization record. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18.
Parents must preregister children before the clinic by calling the health department at (330) 545-6048 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday or Tuesday.
ACS training program for cancer survivors
CANFIELD — The Northeast Ohio Region of the American Cancer Society will host a “Let’s Talk About It” training program from 7 to 9 p.m. July 14 at the society’s office, 525 N. Broad St., for black men who are prostate-cancer survivors.
“Let’s Talk About It” is a free community-based program developed by the cancer society and 100 Black Men of America. The purpose is to increase awareness and knowledge of prostate cancer among black men. Prostate-cancer survivor Dr. Ron Brown will conduct the training.
Once the men are trained and become facilitators, they will be asked to talk to groups of black men in their community about prostate cancer, the most common form of cancer in black men. Black men are twice as likely to get the disease in their early 50s than other men. Also, black men are twice as likely to die from the disease.
The training includes a light dinner and refreshments.

Red Cross CPR training
BOARDMAN — At least one person in each family needs to be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The American Red Cross Mahoning Chapter is offering several opportunities to get CPR training this month.
The ARC on Tod Lane off McClurg Road offers multiple dates and times. Call (330) 726-6063 or go to www.mahoning.redcross.org to register for one of these sessions. Sessions available are: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, July 15 and July 22; and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 11 and July 25.
Baby-sitter training
BOARDMAN — The American Red Cross Mahoning Chapter offers special training for youngsters who want to become baby sitters.
A $35 course fee, which helps to support disaster services in our area, is all it takes to teach 11- to 15-year-old girls and boys everything from basic care and feeding to first aid, choking rescues, rescue breathing and when to call for help.
They also learn how to behave if a stranger calls and what to do if a child gets sick.
The next sessions available are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 31 at Boardman Chapter, Tod Lane, off McClurg Road; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at the chapter; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the chapter; and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19 in Boardman Park.

Safety Saturdays set
YOUNGSTOWN — The American Red Cross Mahoning Chapter is offering combined CPR and first-aid training four Saturdays during July and August.
Register for one full day of CPR and first aid, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the special rate of $50
Upcoming classes are: Saturday, July 25, Aug. 1 and Aug. 22. Evening classes also are available.
The course includes training by a certified Red Cross instructor, a take-home manual for each participant, all materials needed to complete the training and Red Cross certification upon completion.

CPR course offered
BOARDMAN — The American Red Cross Mahoning Chapter is offering a special presentation this month of their “CPR/AED for Health Professionals” course from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 14.
The hands-on, eight-hour, basic life-support class meets all standards for nurses, physicians, EMTs, paramedics and lifeguards. Each successful health-care professional will receive a two-year certification.
Lifeguards and those outside the health-care field will be certified for one year.
