MVHS will sponsor ‘Hot Nights, Cool Delights’
YOUNGSTOWN — On July 18, the Young Leaders Advisory Board of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society will sponsor the third annual History on Tap: “Hot Nights, Cool Delights,” which will be an evening of food, music by the Second Avenue Band and a sampling of art and culture of the Valley.
Guests can get a sneak peek of the future Mahoning Valley History Center at 325 W. Federal St. in downtown Youngstown while enjoying cool treats and signature cocktails. There will be a silent auction with many unique items, and celebrity bartenders will add to the fun.
Tickets are $25 per person, and $40 includes a one-year membership to the Historical Society, and they can be purchased online at www.mahoninghistory.org, at the society or reserved by phone at (330) 743-2589.
Benefit fun run
WARREN — The Ladies of the Highway Riders will host a Fun Run on July 18 to raise funds for victims of domestic violence.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Dennison Deelite, 2185 Parkman Road. The first bike out will be at noon and the first in will be at 4 p.m Tickets, $15 per couple or $10 for a single rider, include a DJ, a 50-50 raffle, door prizes and breakfast specials. St. Patrick Church plans annual golf outing
YOUNGSTOWN — St. Patrick Church in Youngstown is sponsoring its second annual golf outing on July 27 at Knoll Run Golf Course in Lowellville. The theme for the event is “Preserve the Jewel in Our City.”
Proceeds will help maintain and update facilities in the 98-year-old historic Southside church.
Golf will begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. Each participant will receive an 18-hole green fee with cart, continental breakfast, dinner buffet after golf and all-day beverage service. There will be team prizes for first, second and third places, and hole events include closest to the pin, long drives, long putts and par 3.

UPMC workers plan Poker Run for Aug. 1
GREENVILLE, Pa. — UPMC Horizon employees will sponsor their fourth annual motorcycle Poker Run on Aug. 1.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the upper parking lot of UPMC Horizon’s Greenville campus. The ride begins at 10:45 a.m., and includes stops at Fatboys Saloon, Conneautville, Pa.; Hunter Jacks, Girard, Pa.; and Lake Tavern, Mecca, Ohio.
The ride will end at about 4:30 p.m. at Fisherman’s Cove, Orangeville, Ohio, where dinner will be served.

Ursuline garden tour to help fix pool area
CANFIELD — The indoor pool at the Ursuline Center and Motherhouse on Shields Road needs work on the changing rooms and bathroom and to make the facility 100 percent handicapped accessible.
In cooperation with the nuns, a group of people who use the pool will sponsor a garden tour from 1-3 p.m. Aug. 8.
“Come Walk in the Ursuline Gardens” will give the public the chance to learn nature, to discover how to attracts birds and butterflies, and to walk the new outdoor labyrinth, all to melodies played by strolling musicians. Light refreshments are included, and there will be children’s activities.

Luau scheduled at Boardman park
BOARDMAN — Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland will sponsor a luau for senior citizens from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 16 (weather permitting) at Master’s Pavilion in Boardman Township Park. On July 23 the Ron Joy/Sateri homes will sponsor a luau at the pavilion. Reservations are to be made by calling (330) 965-0482.
