Austintown
Holiday events:
An ecumenical service at Austin Log Cabin, 3987 S. Raccoon Road, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Fitch Color Guard and trumpet player will be featured. The keynote speaker will be Rev. Duffy Roberts from Austintown Community Church. A continental breakfast will follow.
The annual Fourth of July Parade will be at 2 p.m. lining up at South Raccoon and Kirk roads and proceeding to Falcon Drive.

The Rotary Club is sponsoring a free celebration at the Canfield Fairgrounds on Saturday. Gates open at 5 p.m. Picnic with your family. There will be kids' games, food, concessions and live bands. New this year, Firecracker Poker Run with motorcyclists leaving at 4 p.m., and returning at 7 p.m. (Rain date, Sunday.)

Flip-Flop Fest today at the Nature and Arts Stage in Lake Milton State Park. Wear your flip-flops and red, white and blue. Holiday events:
Beaver Township will present an Independence Day program featuring the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band at 7 p.m. today at Woodworth Park. Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably and to bring blankets or lawn chairs because seating is limited. The rain date for the 90-minute performance is July 9.

Holiday events:
Downtown Youngstown restaurants and bars will host a pre-Independence Day Dash on Friday. It will begin at Buffalo Wild Wings Party on the Plaza. Other participating establishments are: The Royal Oaks, Cassese’s MVR, The Youngstown Club, Cafe Cimmento, Barley’s, Skeeters Jazz Bar, Downtown 36, The Old Precinct, Rosetta Stone, Imbibe, The Draught House and Cedar’s. Purchase advance tickets at the above locations for $5; take your ticket to registration July 3 in front of Party on the Plaza, 50 Federal Plaza at 5 p.m. and receive two free drink tickets. You can also register the day of the dash for $7. All proceeds will go to the Pincham Initiative Resource Center, which helps Youngstown students prepare and pass the Ohio Graduation Test. The first 100 people to visit each establishment will receive a free Downtown Dash T-shirt.
Fireworks:
Free fireworks show at 9:25 p.m. Saturday shot from the Covelli Centre, downtown. Plenty of room for families to set up and sit on the lawn and plenty of parking in the parking lot on East Front street. Music by Jones for Revival and Khaled from the Zou, beginning at 7 p.m. in the center of Central Square. Nearly all downtown restaurants and bars will be open for business.

Nelson
Holiday events:
Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, 12001 Nelson Ledge Road, presents the 10th annual Gratefulfest with Dark Star Orchestra, Friday through Monday. Admission is $95 for Friday through Monday; $75 for Saturday through Monday; and $50 for Sunday through Monday. Annual Independence Day Parade, starting at Niles McKinley High School, today. Line up at 5:45 p.m. Parade starts at 7 p.m. and will take the same route as the Halloween Parade. All entries should be decorated, participants may walk, ride in cars, or on decorated float, or ride decorated bikes.

Holiday events:
W.D. Packard Concert Band will have a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at Packard Music Hall South Lawn Band Shell. The band celebrates its holiday tradition of great band music. The patriotic music salutes all the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have made sacrifices from 1776 through the present. Soloist is Dana Victor, formerly of Poland and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vaclav. She is a professional vocalist and teacher in Washington. Also featured will be narrator Joel Stigliano.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY
Columbiana
Holiday events:
“A Community Celebration,” all-day activities Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m., fishing contest; 11 a.m., pet show; 11:30 a.m., canoe race; 1 p.m., family games; 3 p.m., ice cream-eating contest; 4 p.m., watermelon-eating contest; 5 p.m., calliope concert; 7 p.m., Canfield Community Band; 8:30 p.m., flag-bearing sky divers; 8:40 p.m., tribute to veterans; 8:50 p.m., flag ceremony (football field, east end). There also will be a 50/50 raffle.

Fireworks:
The annual fireworks display is set for dusk at Waterworth Memorial Park on Friday. This year’s display is provided by Salem Rotary Foundation and the veterans groups making up Salem Memorial and Patriotic Associations as well as community citizens. Veterans will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets to help offset the cost.
Holiday events:
There will be a Pet Parade and decorated vehicles Saturday. Pet parade will line up at 1 p.m., with the decorated vehicle parade to follow, at the corner of Pershing and Broadway. There will be trophies and goody bags for both parades. Categories for the pet parade are: largest, smallest, most unusual, best dressed, cutest and furriest. Holiday events:
U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Anderson Amphitheater next to Brittain Lake at Westminster College.
River City Brass Band will have a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Brittain Lake at Westminster College. In case of rain, the concert will be at the Anderson Amphitheater.

Fireworks:
Third annual fireworks extravaganza. Festivities start at 6 p.m. Saturday with DJ Freddie Fresh as entertainment. There will be food vendors and activities for children. Fireworks at 9:40 p.m.
