Event set on anniversary of death of 'Pretty Boy'

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Lou Holtz/Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame, 120 E. Fifth St., will have a fundraiser on Oct. 24 to coincide with the Oct. 22 silver anniversary of Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd’s death.

The notorious gangster was gunned down by lawmen Oct. 22, 1934, just outside East Liverpool.

The museum’s hall will be converted into a speakeasy for the fundraiser.

Refreshments and entertainment will continue the 1930s theme, according to Robin Webster, director of the museum.

Guests are encouraged to dress in period costume.

Those who bring in a ticket stub from the new movie “Public Enemies” will get a dollar off admission to the event.

A scene in the movie, which opened this week, depicts the killing of Floyd.
