State auditor: Gov. Strickland turns over state financial statements
COLUMBUS (AP) — State Auditor Mary Taylor says Gov. Ted Strickland has handed over Ohio’s financial statements, which had become a source of political conflict.
Taylor, Republican, had said she needed to audit the books as part of the state budget process and criticized the Democratic administration for failing to turn the records in on time.
House Republicans called for Strickland’s budget director to resign, and the auditor had warned that a delay could have budget implications because the state would not know exactly where it stood financially.
Taylor said today the information was turned over Tuesday night.
Strickland has said his administration had advised that the information would be late because of the transition to a new payroll and accounting system.
