Scrappers rally to top Spikes, 6-4

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jordan Henry hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a come-from-behind 6-4 victory over the State College Spikes in New York-Penn League action Tuesday.

Brian Grening (2-0) tossed two shutout innings with three strikeouts to get the win for the Scrappers (8-4), who rallied from a 4-0 deficit by scoring all six runs in the final three innings.

Jason Smit doubled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored a run, while John Allman had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Tim Palincsar tripled and scored and Kyle Bellows had the other RBI.

Clayton Cook started and surrendered four runs (three earned) over five innings with four strikeouts, no walks and five hits.

Cory Burns tossed two scoreless innings of relief before giving way to Grening.

Teddy Fallon (0-1) gave up two runs in two-thirds of an inning to get the loss for State College (5-7).
