‘Tea party’ scheduled in Hanoverton
HANOVERTON — A “tea party” to protest the impact President Barack Obama and Congress are having on the national economy is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday outside the Spread Eagle Tavern.
The Hanoverton restaurant at 10150 Plymouth St. is owned by Columbiana County Republican Chairman Dave Johnson.
Johnson will speak at the event as wills David Zanotti of the American Policy Round Table, a conservative public policy group; Ohio House Minority Leader William Batchelder; Bob Frederick, who recently lost his Chrysler affiliation for his Frederick Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep vehicle dealership in Boardman; and William E. Murray, chairman, president and chief executive officer for Murray Energy Corp., a coal operator.
Tea parties are designed as a protest to the federal government’s bailout of various companies using tax dollars. “Tea” stands for “taxed enough already.” There are more than 1,300 “tea party” events scheduled nationwide for the July 4 weekend.
