U. of Akron ad to run during Super Bowl

STAFF REPORT

AKRON — For the 11th consecutive year, the University of Akron will be showcased to viewers watching the Super Bowl.

A new regional ad for the university will kick off during Super Bowl XLIII, airing Sunday on WKYC-TV.

The 30-second commercial, “Chain Reaction,” builds on the “energy” theme from last year’s TV ad and positions the university as a leader in innovation.

“The TV ad is meant to help us tell our story of the University of Akron so that prospective students and parents can get an idea of what we are known for,” said Barbara O’Malley, associate vice president for communications and chief communications officer.

“The University of Akron has a history of attracting entrepreneurial-minded students looking for a high-quality, research-based education that allows them to apply what they learn in attractive and exciting fields of study.”

The university does not pay the national advertising rate for its Super Bowl ads but pays a regional rate, and the ad airs regionally. It will run on a variety of regional and cable TV stations for about two weeks after the Super Bowl.

The commercial is available for viewing online at http://www.uakron.edu/about_ua/news_media/ua_promo_media.dot.
