A look back

Important dates for the Timberlanes restaurant, catering and hotel complex in Salem:

1962: Odess “Soph” Paparodis buys the Timberlanes, including a restaurant and bowling alley.

1963: Paparodis adds a tavern, which he calls The Oak Room Bar.

1967: Owner adds the 60-room Timberlanes Inn, Salem’s only hotel at the time.

1977: Fire destroys the restaurant and bowling alley.

1978: Rebuilt restaurant is unveiled, along with new banquet halls.

1988: Roy Paparodis buys the business from his father.

2000: Business adds Wallaby’s Grille, a casual dining restaurant.

2002: The Timberlanes celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Jan. 29, 2009: The Timberlanes closes.
