SirViBear cancer-awareness program to begin

STAFF REPORT

AUSTINTOWN — The SirViBear Cancer Survivorship Awareness Program will begin Feb. 7 when the inaugural SirViBear pin will be awarded to a local cancer survivor. The event is at 1 p.m. at the Harley Davidson BikeTown, banquet room, 5700 Interstate Blvd.

SirViBear (the name is based on and pronounced like the word survivor) was created by cancer survivors Bill and Linda English of Austintown, who said they wanted to develop a symbol that would not only celebrate their victory but also inspire those still battling the disease.

The event will also feature a presentation by founder Bill English and the presentation of pins to a number of local survivors and family members. The pin, made in the shape of a bear, will soon be available in retail locations around the country as well as through the SirViBear Web site, which English said will be up and running Monday.
