Local topics on TV Sunday program

“Community Connection” (6:30 a.m., WFMJ-21): “Community Connection” will spend February recognizing African American firsts in the Mahoning Valley.

Last year, Olive M. McKeithan became the first black female mayor of Farrell, Pa. McKeithan has spent the last year learning the game of politics, going from cleaning floors to the office of mayor. Tune in for her inspiring story.

Shannon Tirone, director of Youngstown State University alumni relations, and Dr. Victor Wan-Tatah, director of YSU Africana Studies, will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss the activities for African American History Month at YSU, which will include a lecture by nationally known educator and activist Dr. Cornel West.
