Clipper-crushing win led by Todd Kibby’s 22


NEW MIDDLETOWN — Todd Kibby’s 22 points on Friday led the Springfield High boys basketball team to a 72-57 victory over Columbiana.

The Tigers (8-5, 6-3 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) took a 31-20 lead by intermission.

Joe Musial scored 20 points while Jimmy Zubic had 12 points.

Josh Harold and Tyler Denmeade led Columbiana (9-4, 7-2) with 17 and 11 points apiece.

The Clippers fall two games behind first place East Palestine.

East Palestine 61, South Range 34

EAST PALESTINE — Ben Gysin tossed in 22 points as East Palestine remains unbeaten in league play.

The Bulldogs (12-2, 8-0) led from start to finish. Braxton Mascher pulled down nine rebounds and Austin Cope added five assists.

South Range (4-10, 3-7) was led by Kyle Seaver with seven points.

United 87, Mineral Ridge 53

HANOVERTON — The Golden Eagles (7-3, 6-2 ITCL1) pulled away from a close game when they outscored the Rams (2-11, 1-8) 26-12 in the third quarter.

Jeremy Walker scored 24 points while Zane Smith and Zack Taylor added 19 and 10 for United.

Justin Lasher paced Mineral Ridge with 17 points.

McDonald 55, Wellsville 52

WELLSVILLE — McDonald remains unbeaten after posting its 13th straight win.

The Blue Devils (13-0, 9-0 ITCL2) didn’t have an easy time, needing to outscore Wellsville 17-14 in the final quarter to decide the outcome.

Zach Puntel led the Blue Devils with 14 points. Justin Rota added 12 and Lance Ronghi 11.

Wellsville (10-3, 6-3) was led by Michael Johnston’s 22 points.

Leetonia 74, Jackson-Milton 68

NORTH JACKSON — Andrew Trummer had 23 points, 22 rebounds and four blocks to lead Leetonia (7-7, 5-4 ITCL2) in a game that featured several lead changes in the last few minutes.

Josh Selway added 26 points and five assists and Seth Imboden had 10 points for the Bears, who led by one point entering the final quarter.

Ben Carlile had 28 points and six rebounds for the Bluejays (1-12, 1-8), who were outrebounded 31-19.

Bobby Schnellenbach added 17 points and seven rebounds and Jacob Carlile had 16 points.

Lowellville 69, Western Reserve 67

BERLIN CENTER — Lowellville jumped out to a 24-16 first quarter lead and then had to battle to hold off Western Reserve the rest of the way.

Anthony Schiraldi led the Rockets (7-5, 4-5 ICTL2) with 15 points, while Mauro Amendola added 14 and Anthony Alfano tossed in 12.

Justin Lude sparked the Blue Devils (7-6, 4-5) with 23 points.
