Boardman grabs Federal League victory


BOARDMAN — J.T. Moore and Ryan Pesta each had 17 points as the Boardman High basketball team turned back Lake, 63-56, in Friday’s Federal League contest.

Pesta had three 3-point goals for the Spartans (6-9, 2-4) while Lake (7-6, 2-4) was led by Josh Hubeck with 16 points.

Ledgemont 76, Lordstown 73

LORDSTOWN — Behind 48-29 at intermission, Ledgemont bounced back to outscore Lordstown 47-27 in the second half to prevail in the Northeastern Athletic Conference contest.

Brian Whitfield, Steve Cribley and Billy Wright scored 23, 17 and 15 points respectively for the Red Devils.

Mike Shaffer grabbed 11 rebounds and three steals while Cribley had four assists. Derek Cantrell, Jim Marsic and Charlie Prince led Ledgemont with 26, 15 and 12 points.

Badger 58, Bristol 56

BRISTOLVILLE — Badger rallied in the final quarter to pull out the victory over Bristol in a NAC game.

Marcus Heath led the Braves (4-10, 3-7) with 18 points, while Matt Wilson added 12. John Evans had 20 points to pace Bristol (2-12, 2-8).

Southeast 63, Coventry 56

RAVENNA — Joe DeJacimo scored 29 points including 15-of-20 from the free throw line as Southeast won for the first time in the Portage Trail Conference.

Joe Le-Mon added 13 points for the Pirates (1-13, 1-9) while Anthony Tacdket had 23 points for Coventry (1-11, 1-7).

Kennedy Catholic 68, Jamestown 38

JAMESTOWN, Pa. — Phil Kaikis and Kyle Randall each scored 14 points for the Eagles (15-2).

Jesse Hardin and Aundra Jones each scored 11 points with Jones adding seven rebounds. Randall made 10 assists.
