9-year term in sex case
WARREN — William M. Cvetkovich, 67, of Hancock Street, Girard, was sentenced to nine years in prison on two counts of rape and one of gross sexual imposition for attacks on children age 10 and 11.
The sentence was handed down by Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court after Cvetkovich pleaded guilty.
Cvetkovich was baby-sitting the two children at the time of the assaults, which occurred at his home during the summer of 2007.
Cvetkovich has been in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond since his arrest in September 2007.

Family displaced by fire
YOUNGSTOWN — A mother, her four children and her nephew were left out in the cold after their home in the 2700 block of Idlewood Avenue on the city’s South Side caught fire around 9 a.m. Thursday.
No one was injured, but the loss of property and contents was estimated at $6,000.
Officials said the unintentional fire started in the kitchen and then spread up an interior wall to the second floor and attic.
“It appears that something either fell off the stove top to ignite the trash on the floor, or perhaps one of the children may have been involved,” the fire report stated.
Firefighters cleared the scene after 90 minutes, and the Red Cross was called to provide accommodations for the family.

Children’s vaccinations
AUSTINTOWN — The Mahoning County District Board of Health can vaccinate hundreds more children through an agreement with the Tuscarawas County General Health District, a designated rural health center.
Previously, under-insured children could receive immunizations only through the Vaccine for Children Program at rural health clinics and federally qualified health centers. Now, these children can receive all recommended childhood vaccines at the county board of health, at 50 Westchester Drive, for $14.65 per dose.
Health Commissioner Matthew Stefanak said the agreement will enable the board to vaccinate hundreds more area children whose health insurance doesn’t cover their routine child immunizations.
