This year, she added a part-time position at Holy Family School to her r sum .
Daltorio learned the value of parochial education from her parents, Ralph and Jennie Colla, who provided 12 years of Catholic education for each of their seven children.
Daltorio and her husband, Dom, have done the same, insuring that each of their five children attended parochial elementary and high school and are active members of their parish’s religious education program.
As a member of her parish community, St. Paul’s in New Middletown, Daltorio is a lector, Eucharistic minister, member of the mission team and former member of parish council.
She and her husband have been a sponsor couple in the parish’s Engaged Couples Program and active in St. Paul’s Married Couples Night Out Program. She, along with her children, is involved as an aide in serving and supporting the parish Religious Education Program.
She has used her skills as a motivational speaker to benefit her community and her church. As a cancer survivor, Daltorio has had a special mission to reach out to counsel and support the ill and grieving.
“Marilyn reflects the ideals of Cardinal Mooney in all that she has undertaken. She has dedicated her life to the values that she learned while here as a student, and today she shares them with her church, her community and her family,” said Sr. Jane Marie Kudlacz, Cardinal Mooney principal.
This is the 13th year that the Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented.
