WGH is No. 3, Poland 12th in poll

Unbeaten Warren Harding, which faces a stern test tonight against Erie Cathedral Prep, remains the top-ranked area team in the weekly Associated Press boys basketball poll.

The Raiders (9-0), who also play travel to Chaney on Friday and play host to Ursuline on Saturday, are third in Division I, behind only Cols. Northland and Cin. Moeller.

Warren Harding collected one first place vote and 225 points, three behind Moeller (13-1). Northland (11-0) was a runaway leader with 26 first-place votes and 317 points.

The only other area team in the rankings is Poland (8-4) in Div. II. The Bulldogs, who visit Beaver Local tonight and play host to Niles on Friday, are 12th with 34 points.

St. Paris Graham (13-0) leads Div. II with 28 first-place votes and 317 points, with Circleville Logan Elm (12-1) and Wilmington (12-1) rounding out the top three.

In Div. III, Smithville (12-0) garnered 18 first-place votes and 294 points. Casstown Miami East and Kirtland are second and third, respectively.

New Knoxville (12-0) leads Div. IV wit 23 first-place votes and 300 points, ahead of Berlin Hiland (13-0) and Newark Catholic (11-1).

The poll will continue for four more weeks.
