Loan for band uniforms

NILES — The city school board has voted to lend the McKinley High School Band Boosters just more than $29,000 to help cover the cost of new uniforms. Superintendent Rocco Adduci said the boosters could raise only $22,000 of the $51,000 cost, and the board, after checking with its attorneys, determined it could loan the remainder. Adduci said the boosters will get an interest-free loan for six years and will pay back installments of more than $5,000 each year. “Our old uniforms have lasted for 16 years, and they usually don’t last for more than 10,” Adduci said. The superintendent said the uniforms will be purchased through Midwest Band and Frontline Accessories of Cortland.
