Shooting in Cincinnati leaves three dead

CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities in a Cincinnati suburb say a 26-year-old man is a suspect in the shooting deaths of three people.

Hamilton County sheriff’s officials say officers responding to emergency calls Saturday morning found Timothy Sturgel standing in front of a Colerain Township home holding an assault rifle. He was taken into custody but has not been charged.

Police say 51-year-old Jerry Sturgel, his wife, 40-year-old Mary Sturgel, and 13-year-old Emily Hurst were shot and killed.

Emily can be heard on a 911 call screaming that her stepbrother just shot her stepfather.

Authorities say Emily died on the way to a hospital, and the other two died in the home.

Police say that a fire was just under way inside the house when they arrived.
