Three apply for township fiscal position

staff report

MINERAL RIDGE — James Pirko is the third candidate to submit a r sum for the position of Weathersfield Township fiscal officer.

Former Trustee Fred Bobovnyk resigned Tuesday to apply for the post, and Richard Harkins, a former member of the township zoning commission, also applied.

The post will be vacant as of Feb. 2, with the resignation of David Rouan, who has been appointed director of administration and government offices for David DeChristofaro, Trumbull County’s new engineer.

Pirko is a real estate agent and was named township grants coordinator last year. He also had the post of fiscal officer before retiring in 1990 when Rouan was named.

A new trustee must be appointed by trustees in 30 days, Trustee William Miller said. If trustees do not appoint someone, Trumbull County Probate Court Judge Thomas Swift will make the appointment. The fiscal officer’s position also must be filled within 30 days by trustees, Miller said.

Trustees will have a special meeting with an open agenda after a 9:45 a.m. executive session Wednesday on personnel at the township administration building.
