Salem slips past Struthers by four


STRUTHERS — Phil Bennett scored 14 points Friday as the Salem High boys basketball team defeated Struthers, 52-48.

Chris Brown sank four 3-pointers for 12 points for the Quakers (7-4, 2-0 All-American Conference White).

Adam Ryzaj scored 15 points for the Wildcats (4-8, 0-2).

Lakeview 69, Liberty 48

CORTLAND — Robert Franks scored 21 points, pulled down eight rebounds and made five assists for the Bulldogs (9-3, 1-0 AAC White).

Justin Clark scored 12 points while Joel Davis contributed 10.

For the Leopards (5-6, 1-1), Floyd Showers led with 14 points. Blair Williams scored 13 points while Charles Perdue had 10.

Howland 70, Niles 39

NILES — The Tigers (8-4, 1-0 AAC Red) were cruising 50-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Kyle Spence paced Howland with 20 points. Tyler Scott added 19 and Jared Kirin finished with 16.

Cory Floyd led the Red Dragons (4-8, 0-1) with 17 points.

Newton Falls 63, Champion 38

NEWTON FALLS — The Tigers (11-1, 3-0 AAC Blue) put the game out of reach 55-25 by the end of the third quarter. Cody Dillion, Marcus Fowler and Brian Sole paced the Newton Falls balanced scoring attack with 17, 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Mike Smith led the Golden Flashes (3-8, 1-2) with nine points.

East Liverpool 83, Beaver Local 47

EAST LIVERPOOL — Jason Dickey fire in 24 points, including three 3-point goals, to lead East Liverpool at Beaver Local’s gym.

Marty Webb and Marky Thompkins added 10 points apiece for the Potters (5-6).

Travis Lynch tallied 20 points, including three 3-point goals, to spark Beaver Local (0-12).
