Balanced Blue Devils too much for Bears; J-M snaps losing skid
LEETONIA — Devin Bansberg, Matthias Tayala and Lance Ronghi each scored 10 points on Friday as the McDonald High boys basketball team defeated Leetonia, 70-65.
Tom Orr scored eight points for the Blue Devils (11-0, 7-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two).
For the Bears (6-6, 4-3), Josh Selway scored 27 points including 15 free throws. He also had 11 rebounds and four steals.
Andrew Trummer scored 18 points and had 13 rebounds and two blocks.
Jackson-Milton 82, Southern 75
NORTH JACKSON — The Bluejays (1-10) won for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
Trailing 29-21 in the fourth quarter, the Bluejays rallied as Ben Carlile scored a career-high 34 points.
Andrew Diaz scored 30 points for Southern.
Wellsville 41, Lowellville 35
LOWELLVILLE — The Tigers (9-2, 5-2 ITCL2) held the Rockets (6-6, 3-4) to eight points in the first quarter, six in the second and third in the third.
Mike Johnston paced Wellsville with 14 points and Deshon Pullie added 12.
Anthony Schiraldi led Lowellville with 17 points.
Western Reserve 60, Sebring 39
BERLIN CENTER — Senior Randall Ludwiczak scored 14 points and had five rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Blue Devils (7-4, 4-3 ITCL2).
Justin Lude scored 13 points while Matt Hubbs pulled down five rebounds.
For the Trojans (5-5, 2-5), Devin Weekly scored 10 points.
Springfield 65, Crestview 62
COLUMBIANA — Jim Zubic and Joe Musial each scored 14 points for the Tigers (6-5, 4-3 ITCL Tier One). Zubic also made 10 assists.
Brad Ferraro and Todd Kibby each scored 12 points, with Kibby also pulling down six rebounds. Eric Lipp contributed 11 points.
For the Rebels (5-8, 2-5), Brandon Gates scored 15 points.
East Palestine 50, Lisbon 33
LISBON — The Bulldogs (10-2, 6-0 ITCL1) remain unbeaten in league play as Braxton Mascher scored 19 points and grabbed 10 of 23 rebounds.
Austin Cope added 15 points and he had seven assists.
Todd Paderean paced Lisbon with 17 points.
Columbiana 88, Mineral Ridge 68
MINERAL RIDGE — The Clippers‘ (8-3, 6-1 ITCL1) Travis Denmeade, Kevin Blinsky and Trenton Hatherill triggered the Columbiana balanced scoring attack with 22, 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Blinsky had nine rebounds while Jared Harold had eight assists and eight steals.
Zack Kiger led the Rams (2-9, 1-6) with 14 points and Justin Lasher had 11.
United 77, South Range 61
HANOVERTON — The Golden Eagles (6-2, 5-1 ITCL1) pulled away by outscoring the Raiders (4-8, 3-5) 25-18 in the fourth quarter.
Zack Taylor scored 23 points and Taylor Phillips finished with 12 for United.
James Nell led South Range with 16 points. Jack Dawson had 10.
