Ambulance fund theft case going to court

FARRELL, Pa. — Shenango Valley Ambulance Service’s former president, who’s charged with stealing money from the organization, had his case held for court after waiving a preliminary hearing.

Roy Dulaney, 50, of Sharon, appeared Thursday before District Magistrate Ronald Antos. Dulaney stipulated to the charges, which is acknowledgement that prosecutors had enough evidence to send the case to Mercer County Common Pleas Court, Antos said.

Southwest Regional Police charged Dulaney in December with the theft of $115,589 through 283 unauthorized ATM withdrawals from the ambulance service’s account between July 2006 and November, according to an affidavit on file with Antos’ office.

Other officers of the service called police in November after they confronted Dulaney with bank statements, removed him as president and terminated his employment, the affidavit says.

When confronted, Dulaney stated, “It’s my gambling,” according to the affidavit.
