Judge dismisses suit against police officer

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — A lawsuit filed against a former volunteer Newton Township and West Farmington police officer by the former West Farmington police chief has been dropped.

Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed against former police officer Tom Colosimo and various West Farmington officials. It had been filed by former West Farmington Police Chief Ted Cornelison.

The dismissal followed a notice by Cornelison’s attorneys that they were dismissing the lawsuit.

Cornelison, of Brookfield, was fired as West Farmington’s police chief in January 2008 and accused by Colosimo of committing a variety of crimes. Complaints against Cornelison were later dropped.

The suit can be refiled for up to a year, according to a letter Colosimo received from his attorney, Abraham Cantor of Concord, Ohio.
