Advance tickets only for McKinley banquet

NILES — The Mahoning Valley McKinley Club is having its 94th annual banquet honoring President William B. McKinley at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the McKinley Memorial in Niles.

John Kasich, an Ohio native and Fox News contributor, is keynote speaker.

Austintown Rotary hears of programs for the needy

AUSTINTOWN — The speaker at the Jan. 12 meeting of Austintown Rotary Club was Patty DiGiaccobe, a representative of Family Promise, a religious-based organization whose goal is to find housing for homeless families in local churches on a rotating basis.

DiGiaccobe explained that churches involved in the program are asked to provide housing, supper and breakfast for a maximum of four families (or 14 people) one week every three months.

Family Promise has 124 chapters in 39 states. Six churches in Trumbull County have signed on to participate.

At the Rotary’s Jan. 19 meeting, Meredith Young from Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, a fundraising program of Habitat, was the guest speaker.

ReStore is located at 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers.

Available for sale at the store are donated building materials, furniture, hardware, fixtures, plumbing, tools, electrical items, books, office furniture and much more.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Relay team plans event at Methodist Church

LISBON — Relay for Life Team “Share Bears” will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 14 at the First United Methodist Church of Lisbon, 114 E. Washington St.

The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 6.

The event will also feature a Chinese auction, and candy and flower sales.
