HUBBARD

Jan. 17

Counterfeit: Two students at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., told authorities they received a phony $5 bill for change during lunch.

Arrest: Warrants were issued against two Hubbard residents charging them with obstructing justice.

Arrest: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant charging a Hubbard man with one count each of theft, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Attempted theft: An employee of Rite Aid Pharmacy, 147 W. Liberty St., called police after a man set off a magnetic sensor and fled. The property was recovered.

Jan. 18

Criminal damaging: A worker for a North Main Street store told police a customer’s vehicle had a broken rear windshield.

Theft: A man reported that a snow blower had been removed from his residence in the 300 block of Elizabeth Street.

Jan. 20

Criminal damaging: A Fairchild Drive man found on his truck a smashed side window.

LIBERTY

Jan. 16

Theft: A Wilkesboro, N.C., man staying at a Motor Inn Drive motel discovered that a $1,000 tailgate had been stolen from the bed of his truck.

Theft: A Craig Lane woman told officers her bank notified her that someone had tried to cash one of her personal checks for $150.

Assault/criminal damaging: Police responded to an argument between motorists in the 1900 block of Church Hill Road, where a Girard man reported that the other driver had gotten out and struck him several times, and that a woman threw an object at the accuser’s car. A Campbell woman, 42, was arrested when, officers learned, she was wanted on a felony warrant from Youngstown.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An Oakwood Drive man said his 33-year-old former girlfriend took his 2004 sport utility vehicle without permission while he was at work.

Burglary: An elderly Cardinal Drive woman saw that someone had kicked in a rear door. Police found that numerous drawers and cupboards throughout the home were open.

Jan. 18

Arson: Someone deliberately set fire to a mattress and box spring in a room at a Motor Inn Drive motel.

Jan. 19

Arrests: A Columbus woman, 44, faced felony charges of forgery, identity theft and deception to obtain dangerous drugs after authorities responded to someone trying to pass a phony prescription at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. A 49-year-old Euclid, Ohio, man was charged with complicity. Found were a prescription and a Medicare card as well as Social Security and insurance documents in someone else’s name, a report said.

Jan. 20

Assault: Police responded to a fight near state Route 193 and Mansell Drive in which a woman alleged her boyfriend struck her in the face and body-slammed her. The 21-year-old Youngstown man said she slapped him, and he was taken into custody on several warrants, including a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Theft: A man stole $22.80 worth of products from Smoker Friendly, 3814 Belmont Ave.

GIRARD

Jan. 20

Threats: A Verona Avenue woman reported that she and two family members received threatening calls, on some of which the caller threatened to dismember the accuser, burn down her residence and harm her children. The threats were related to drugs, a report showed.
