Girl killed in accident remembered as ‘very caring’
BROOKFIELD — Classmates of a Brookfield High School junior who died in a single-car accident Sunday night described the girl as “full of life,” “fun to be around,” and “very caring.”
Alessa Norris, 16, of state Route 7 in Brookfield Township, died at the scene of the accident on U.S. Route 62 in Hubbard Township. The vehicle in which she was riding struck a metal pole in the median of the divided highway at around 11:15 p.m.
The car hit the pole on the passenger side as the vehicle headed east on a downgrade and a curve, police said. Road conditions were wet and snowy.
The car,driver Joshua Thompson, 18 of Masury, was initially in serious condition, but was released Tuesday from St. Elizabeth’s Health Center.
A determination of the speed of the vehicle has not been made, said Lt. Joseph Dragovich, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren barracks.
Neither teen was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
