YSU to mark inaugural

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University will mark the swearing-in of President Barack Obama with an inaugural celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Admission is free.

The event is co-sponsored by YSU Africana Studies, the Department of History, Office of Student Diversity, Department of Political Science, Office of Student Affairs and the Center for Working-Class Studies.

Body of man, 27, ID’d

YOUNGSTOWN — The man found dead in a Youngstown State University courtyard apartment has been identified as Stephen Michael Futey IV, 27, of North Jackson, according to Mahoning County Coroner David M. Kennedy.

Futey was found by a roommate Wednesday morning. The apartment complex is on Wick Oval off Spring Street.

The coroner said a ruling on the cause of death is pending. YSU police said there was no indication of foul play.

State Route 11 work

COLUMBIANA — Southbound state Route 11 traffic will be shifted over into the northbound passing lane Monday for bridge repairs on two structures over the Norfolk Southern Corp. and Township Road 888 in Fairfield Township, located just north of the state Route 344 Interchange.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on the northbound lanes.

Contractor for the $4.4 million project is Marucci & Gaffney Excavating Co., Youngstown, and the completion date is Oct. 31, said a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Transportation.

East Palestine meeting

EAST PALESTINE — The Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday upstairs at the Masonic Lodge on Market Street.
