TAMPA, Fla. — Martin St. Louis, Andrej Meszaros and Ryan Craig scored during a 2:03 span of the second period to lead the Lightning to their fourth victory in six games. Mark Recchi had two assists for the Lightning. The Tampa Bay right wing tied Dale Hawerchuk for 17th place on the NHL’s career points list with 1,409. All-Star center Vincent Lecavalier made it 4-1 on a penalty shot at 12:34 of the third. Joffrey Lupul scored for Philadelphia. The Flyers have lost four of six.
Bruins 2, Islanders 1
UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Tim Thomas made 40 saves, and Marc Savard and Martin St. Pierre scored goals to help the Bruins win their fourth straight game. Thomas was on the verge of his fourth shutout of the season, but Bill Guerin swept in a rebound with 53.2 seconds left. Yann Danis stopped 25 shots for the Islanders, losers of six straight. They haven’t won in January, and have just two wins since the end of November.
Maple Leafs 6, Hurricanes 4
RALEIGH, N.C. — Tomas Kaberle scored the go-ahead goal on a power play late in the third period to help the Maple Leafs shake off a blown four-goal lead. Jason Blake had three goals and two assists for the Maple Leafs, who ended a four-game losing streak with a wild victory against a team that was just as desperate. Ian White and Nicklas Hagman also scored for Toronto, and Vesa Toskala made 28 saves. Kaberle scored on a one-timer with 5:25 left to make it 5-4, and Blake added an empty-net score in the final seconds. Matt Cullen, Tuomo Ruutu, Eric Staal and Scott Walker scored for the Hurricanes.
Canadiens 3, Predators 2
MONTREAL — Andrei Markov had a goal and an assist, and Robert Lang had two assists to lead the Canadiens. Andrei Kostitsyn and Guillaume Latendresse also scored, and Jaroslav Halak stopped 23 shots in his seventh straight start. Montreal, coming off a 3-1 loss in Boston on Tuesday night, improved to 5-0-1 at home since Dec. 13 when the Canadiens wrapped up a franchise-record seven-game homestand with a 2-1 loss to Washington. J.P. Dumont and Vernon Fiddler scored for Nashville.
