Howland continues unbeaten with 10th

HOWLAND — The Howland High girls basketball team got strong performances from Kelly Barzak, Taylor Williams and Abby Nicholas to whip Poland, 60-34, and stay undefeated in an All-American Conference Red Tier game Wednesday night.
Barzak and Williams scored 16 points each while Nicholas had 10 with 13 rebounds and four assists, as Howland (10-0, 1-0 ACC Red Tier) barged out to a 36-17 halftime advantage and finished with 27-for-60 shooting from the field.
Lauren Tadla had 17 points and seven rebounds to spark Poland (6-5, 0-1 AAC Red), while Missy Haug added 10.
Mooney 43, Fitch 24
AUSTINTOWN — Katie Hughes had 11 points and Katie Griswold added 10 for Mooney (5-5), which got off to a 14-5 start.
Taylor Carter had seven points for Fitch (4-7).
Champion 57, LaBrae 43
LEAVITTSBURG — Heather Beachy scored eight of her 17 points in the final quarter, as Champion outscored LaBrae, 18-6, over that final span to surge away to the verdict.
Paige Loychick had 16 points and Briana Lewis 10 to reinforce Champion (5-6, 1-1 AAC Blue).
Emily Potter tossed in 20 points to pace LaBrae (2-9, 0-2 AAC Blue), while Bayle Boggs added six with nine rebounds and four assists and Courtney Aldridge six rebounds.
Newton Falls 49, Girard 13
NEWTON FALLS — Kelsey McGregor scored 19 points to lead Newton Falls in an All-American Conference Blue Tier game. The Tigers (9-3, 3-0) led 26-6 at halftime.
Melissa Heitzman scored four points to lead Girard (3-8, 0-1).
Campbell 50, Brookfield 38
CAMPBELL — Jayaira Grhim scored nine of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter, as Campbell outscored Brookfield over that span, 21-12, to rally from a 22-18 halftime deficit.
The Red Devils (8-3, 2-0 ACC Blue) then finished off the Warriors with an 11-4 scoring advantage in the fourth.
Natetay Jones-Logan had eight of her 11 points in the third quarter to complement Grhim.
Iesha Moses added nine points and 10 rebounds for Campbell.
Rachel Gentile and Brittany Hiner had 10 points each for Brookfield (5-6, 0-2 ACC Blue).
Ravenna 32, Southeast 30
RAVENNA — Mya Levels scored 20 points for the Pirates (1-9, 0-7) in a Portage Trail Conference Metro Division game. Ravenna (6-3, 5-2) led 16-9 at halftime before Southeast rallied.
