LISBON — Columbiana County commissioners have filed a lawsuit to force companies to make repairs to the municipal courthouse.

The lawsuit was filed against Metal Worx Systems Inc. and Hartford Casualty Insurance Co., both of Columbus, and Vendrick Construction Inc. of Brookfield.

The lawsuit claims “Vendrick installed the roof system in 2004, but the roof began to leak immediately after installation.”

Commissioner James Hoppel said Wednesday that the damage was not extensive.

The $3.7 million building was constructed at 38832 Saltwell Road. It opened in 2005.

The construction cost is being paid with court fees.

Vendrick and Metal Worx, which made the roof system that consists of metal panels and seals, also tried to fix the leaks, according to the lawsuit.

The suit said Hartford Insurance has not approved the county’s claim for damages.
