Lawrence seeks project funding

The regional planning commission will take the list to Washington, D.C.

STAFF REPORT

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Lawrence County has submitted $111 million worth of projects for funding under President-elect Barack Obama’s $775 billion economic stimulus plan.

“It’ll be there on his desk if he does go through with the economic stimulus plan,” said Amy Mc- Kinney, Lawrence County planning director.

McKinney contacted all municipalities and school districts, the New Castle Sanitation Authority and the Lawrence County Economic Development Corp. to gather projects for a list to give the Southwest Pennsylvania Planning Commission, which oversees Lawrence and nine other counties. The list was due Friday.

The planning commission will take it to Washington, D.C., McKinney said.

She said submitting the list does not guarantee funding for the projects.
