Lakeview defeats Canfield; Poland beats Salem by 24
Twelve players got into the scoring column in Campbell’s win over Girard in an AAC Blue game.
CANFIELD — Justin Clark scored 17 points and Ethan Metheny had 15, and both were especially effective in the second half to help Lakeview fend off Canfield, 56-48, Tuesday night.
Clark had 10 points in the fourth quarter, including a pair of 3-point goals, while Metheny had 10 points in the third quarter when the Bulldogs outscored Canfield, 21-10.
Lakeview (7-3) carried a 43-39 lead into the fourth quarter, when it was helped by 3-for-3 shooting from 3-point range.
Joel Davis added 12 points for Lakeview.
Mike Podolsky had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Canfield (6-4).
Poland 75, Salem 51
POLAND — Niko Fatimos scored 19 points, David Baker added 12 and Ben Donlow 10 for Poland (8-2).
Trent Toothman scored nine points for Salem (5-4).
Niles 62, Liberty 54
NILES — The Red Dragons (4-6), behind by a point at the end of the third quarter, rallied 19-9 for the victory.
Ryan Frantz triggered the Niles attack with 26 points. Saul Vaughn added 19 and Cory Floyd had 11.
Blair Williams, Anthony Cleveland and Teshawn Letlon led the Leopards (4-6) with 21, 15 and 12 points respectively.
Campbell 73, Girard 23
CAMPBELL — Twelve players got into the scoring column for the Red Devils (6-3, 1-0) in the All American Conference Blue game.
Jerah’me Williams led the scoring with 17 points and he had three assists. Lester Hughes added 10 points, while Doug Jones grabbed seven rebounds.
Michael Bornemiss scored seven points for the Indians (1-9, 0-2)
Howland 52, Struthers 49
STRUTHERS — Howland jumped out in front early and then held off a late rally by Struthers.
Jared Kirin led the Tigers (6-3) with 14 points while Tyler Scott added 11.
Adam Ryczaj tossed in 10 points for the Wildcats (3-6).
Hubbard 88, Beaver Local 69
HUBBARD — Sam Bellino tossed in 23 points to lead Hubbard.
Bubby Thompson and Kurtis Drummond each added 16 points for the Eagles (8-2).
Shawn Mercer tossed in 18 points and Travis Lynch added 15 for Beaver Local (0-10).
Brookfield 65, Mathews 56
BROOKFIELD — Anthony Uberti’s game-high 22 points consisted of 10 free throws — eight of which came in the fourth quarter.
Cameron Derr and Ryan Shugarts both had 12 points for Brookfield (3-7).
For Mathews (5-3), Chris Morgan had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Collin Bowser added 10 points.
