POLAND

Jan. 7

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a residence in the 5900 block of New Castle Road and removed two horse statues, four candlestick holders and other property.

Jan. 10

Recovered property: Police found a damaged vending machine in a yard in the 7700 block of North Lima Road. The machine had been stolen in Springfield Township.

Jan. 8

Attempted burglaries: Authorities charged two boys, both 17, and a man, 18, all of Youngstown, with two counts of attempted burglary after investigating suspicious people and finding storm windows to two New England Boulevard homes had been disturbed. One of the boys also was charged with trafficking in marijuana when suspected marijuana was found in their vehicle.

Criminal damaging: To a lawn and mailbox on East Parkside Drive.

Theft: Eleven compact discs, a checkbook and money were stolen from a car outside a Boardman-Canfield Road store.

Misuse of a credit card: A Walkertown, N.C., man found on his credit-card statement three unauthorized charges totaling $82.84 that had been made from two Boardman locations.

Drug paraphernalia: A Boardman man, 24, was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after police responded to a heroin overdose at a Tudor Lane home.

Burglary: Authorities booked a 21-year-old Youngstown woman at the Mahoning County Jail on a charge of burglary. She was accused in the July break-in of a Brookfield Avenue residence in which tools and other items had been taken.

Domestic violence: A Warren man, 29, was charged after a woman at the Youngstown Campus of Akron Children’s Hospital, 6505 Market St., alleged her former boyfriend threatened to stab her with a pen and made several verbal threats.

Arrest: A 23-year-old Boardman man was pulled over on Market Street and taken into custody on a warrant from Youngstown charging him with obstructing official business.

Jan. 9

Theft: A Boardman man at a Market Street gas station told police he gave another man a ride to the Southern Park Mall as well as $28.75 for his taxi fare to East Liverpool, but that the man failed to pay it back as promised.

Bad check: A Pioneer Drive man selling a chair online for $150 told authorities he refused to accept a check from a woman, and that the potential buyer sent him an e-mail claiming a bank was to send him a $2,500 check. The woman asked the man to cash the check and send her the difference, he reported.

Counterfeit: A phony $50 bill was presented at Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Theft: An official with Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged a worker stole an undisclosed amount of money from several registers.

Theft: A man reported his vehicle had been broken into in the 4100 block of Lake Park Road. Stolen was his wallet and around $850.

Criminal damaging: Someone fired paintballs and damaged two sheds as well as about 100 feet of vinyl fencing belonging to the Boardman Soccer Association, 4100 Riverside Drive.

Theft: A worker with Chuck E. Cheese, 521 Boardman-Poland Road, told police someone hosted a children’s party but failed to pay the $176 bill. A woman said she had left the money but that it may have been stolen, a report showed.

Fraud: An employee with a Boardman security business told officers the company had been ordered to deduct each month $415 from his paycheck to pay court-ordered child support, but that the full amount had not been sent to the agency. The man also reported having received a letter stating he owes nearly $6,000.

Aggravated menacing: A woman in the 5100 block of Market Street reported a man threatened her by simulating pointing a gun at her.

Theft: An employee with Hertz Rent-a-Car, 8162 Market St., reported a customer rented but failed to return a 2009 Hyundai Sonata at the agreed-upon time.

Theft: Police picked up a 20-year-old Youngstown man on a warrant charging him with stealing $427 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to break into a coin box at an East Midlothian Boulevard carwash.

Theft: A township man, 22, faced a felony charge, accused of stealing about $2,582 worth of frames from Lens Crafters, 265 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Jan. 10

Arrest: Officers responded to someone trying to break down a door to a West Boulevard apartment and charged a Boardman man, 23, with criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. A woman alleged her former boyfriend tried to enter, and he refused to cooperate with police, a report said.

Theft: A rear wheel from a car on Oakridge Drive.

Possible theft: A Creston Drive man reported $100, his driver’s license and four credit cards lost or stolen.

Criminal damaging: A Cincinnati woman saw that all of her car’s windows had been smashed near Mill Creek Boulevard and U.S. Route 224.

Theft: A Youngstown man, 23, was charged in the theft of a $72 bottle of cologne from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Jan. 11

Drugs: Police cited a 27-year-old Johnstown, Ohio, man near Kentwood Drive on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Criminal damaging: A Carter Circle man discovered two tires on his car had been slashed. Damage was estimated at $350.

Criminal damaging: A Lockwood Boulevard woman found three vehicle windows smashed, resulting in $500 worth of damage.
