FARRELL, Pa. — Police have arrested a man for a robbery in Hermitage.
Quentin Mathews, 27, of Quinby Street, Sharon, also was wanted for questioning in the shooting death of a Detroit man in Farrell. He was arrested at 5 a.m. Monday at a Fruit Avenue, Farrell, address.
Mathews was wanted in the July 9 armed robbery at a Cohasset Drive residence. Another man wanted in the robbery, Michael Golden Jr., 23, whose last known address was on Lee Avenue in Farrell, surrendered to police Dec. 27.
Mathews was arraigned Monday on charges of robbery, conspiracy, theft and simple assault. He and Golden are accused of assaulting the victim, whom they knew, and stealing $1,300 in cash and a $250 digital camera.
Mathews was taken to Mercer County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Golden remained at the jail Monday on a $75,000 bond. He is charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft and assault, said Hermitage Deputy Chief Ed Holiga.
Mathews was arrested by the Mercer County Critical Incident Response Team and officers from the Southwest Regional Police on Hermitage police’s warrant.
Riley Smoot, Southwest Regional’s police chief, said Monday that police were unable to question Mathews in the death of Troy Coleman, 38, who was shot five times on Roemer Boulevard around 5 a.m. Dec. 20. “He refused to talk to us,” Smoot said.
Smoot said the department is still waiting for crime lab results on evidence in the case.
Coleman was found lying on the sidewalk next to his car. He had 61 grams of crack cocaine on him, Smoot said.
Smoot said no one has come forward to explain why Coleman was in Farrell.
