The township man’s preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

AUSTINTOWN — A North Roanoke Avenue man is in the Mahoning County Jail, charged with multiple counts of possessing material that depicts minors in sexually oriented activity.

Police arrested Terrence Justice, 48, Sunday evening at his home. Justice, who worked as a janitor in Boardman, is charged with 23 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and eight counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

Justice appeared Monday before Judge David D’Apolito of Mahoning County Area Court, who set his bond at $100,000.

He told the judge that he understood the charges against him.

“You don’t need to read them,” Justice told the judge. “I read them over last night.”

The judge declared Justice indigent and set his preliminary hearing for 10 a.m. Wednesday.

“So I’m basically going to be unemployed because I can’t get to work,” Justice said.

“That’s the least of it,” the judge said.

Detective Sgt. Kathy Dina of township police said the photos involve several juvenile females. None of the children in the photos are believed to live locally, and Justice isn’t suspected of engaging in sexual activity with minors.

Dina said the North Roanoke man is accused of receiving e-mails from an individual in another state that contain photographs of minors involved in sexual activity.

The investigation began in April 2007, she said. Township police and an FBI agent went to Justice’s home, and Justice voluntarily gave his computer to the federal agent, a police report said.

In July 2008, the FBI turned the investigation over to township police.
