Frostbite Foodtaste returns to Sharon
SHARON, Pa. — The annual Budweiser Frostbite Foodtaste Footrace returns to downtown Sharon on Thursday. The event, which raises money for the Help Heat Homes campaign of the Prince of Peace Center in Farrell, starts at 7 p.m. More than 600 participants are expected to follow the route to 10 gathering places. They will taste each one’s specialty food items and beverages.
The stops on this year’s Frostbite Foodtaste Footrace are the ACT, The Russian Club, Billy’s Black & Gold, Our Gang’s Lounge, Side Pocket Caf , The Marigold, Chestnut Street Caf , Quaker Steak & Lube and an outdoor tailgate party catered by Penn Pilsner and Basilone’s of Farrell. At 10 p.m., participants will take part in a footrace from the tailgate party to Tully’s, where trophies and prizes will be awarded. The categories are: first-, second- and third-place for males and females; dead last; best party pack; food critic (male and female); and best attire (male and female).
The entry fee is $12, and forms are available at each Frostbite location. Participants can also register at the pre-registration party at Quaker Steak & Lube from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and at the ACT on Sharpsville Avenue between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The first 700 registrants will receive a free T-shirt and novelty hat to wear during the race.
Last year, the event raised $5,000 for the Help Heat Homes program.
