Bank robbery probed

UNION, Pa. — A masked woman entered a township bank Saturday, claiming she was armed.

Officers with the New Castle post of the Pennsylvania State Police said the woman entered First Merit Bank on 2090 West State Street about 10:20 a.m. Saturday and demanded money from the teller.

She was given an unspecified amount of cash and a dye pack, which exploded as she exited the bank. Police said it’s likely she was injured because of the dye pack detonation.

Police said the woman they are searching for is approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs between 110 and 125 pounds. They said a male drove the getaway car.

Anyone with information should call the Crime Unit of the Pennsylvania State Police, New Castle Barracks, at (724) 598-2211.

High court in Lisbon

LISBON — The Ohio Supreme Court will hear cases in the Columbiana County Courthouse April 22. It will be the 57th meeting of the top court’s off-site visit program.

The program this year will replace the county’s annual law day program hosted by the county bar association. The local bar will have an event with the seven justices on the day before the program.

Students will hear oral arguments in four cases.

Atty. Don Humphrey, president of the county bar association, said Monday that before the program, attorney-educators will go into every school district in the county to explain the workings of the judicial system.

Cases will be heard in the courtroom of Judge David Tobin of common pleas court.
