Trumbull New Theatre will offer drama ‘Proof’

NILES — Trumbull New Theatre will present “Proof” for three weekends, beginning Friday. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. There will be one Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Feb. 1.

“Proof” is a taut drama about a young woman who cared for her father, a brilliant but disturbed mathematician, until his death. After the funeral, she wrestles with fears about her own mental instability as she deals with her condescending sister.

‘Noises Off’ to open at Salem theater

SALEM — “Noises Off” opens Friday at Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., for a two-weekend run that includes Sunday matinees.

The slapstick farce goes behind the scenes of a bumbling theater company as it puts on a play. It is directed by Eric Kibler. The cast includes Kibler, James Ballor, Melissa Bendor, Eric Coulbourne, Michael McGrail, Regina Reynolds, Denise Sculli, Dave Wack and Melanie Williams.

Don Burns Orchestra in big-band concert

COLUMBIANA — The Don Burns Orchestra and the Sunrise Serenaders will perform a tribute to Glenn Miller and the big-band era in an 8 p.m. concert Saturday at Main Street Theater, 5 N. Main St.

Songs will include standards by Glenn Miller and other bands, including “In the Mood,” “String of Pearls,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Serenade in Blue” and “Tuxedo Junction.”

The Don Burns Orchestra will be accompanied by the Sunrise Serenaders. Featured singers are Amy Howard, Al Cerritelli, Gary Watson and Dave Thomas.

Neil Simon comedy at New Castle theater

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The musical comedy “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” opens Friday in the Annex Theatre of New Castle Playhouse, 212 E. Long Ave., for nine performances over three weekends.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Caryn Nicholson is the director.

Print of Stambaugh goes to MVHS

YOUNGSTOWN — On Jan. 20, Stambaugh auditorium officials will give the Mahoning Valley Historical Society a framed print of the Stambaugh concert hall.

The print features the hall’s grand piano. The presentation helps to kick off the society’s effort to increase local memorabilia for display in the new location downtown.

Phil Cannatti, auditorium executive director, and William Conti, board president, will make the presentation.
