POLAND — The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Farley of Poland was celebrated during a surprise party on Jan. 3 at The Elm Tree in Struthers.

Invitations for the festivities were extended by the couple’s children and their spouses, Debbie and Kenny Hunt of Poland, Pam and Marvin Mashburn of Lowellville, Will and Kim Farley of Struthers and Sharon and Brian Goodin of New Middletown, and by their 11 grandchildren, Alex and Danny Hunt, Rachel (Rich) Woodburn, Jacob, Ben and Lydia Mashburn, Julie and Adam Farley, and Amanda, Danielle and Michael Goodin.

The home of the bride’s parents in Hinton, W.Va., was the setting on Jan. 3, 1959, as the former Betty Kessler and Mr. Farley were united in marriage.

Mrs. Farley was a cook in the cafeteria of Poland High School prior to retiring in January 2000. Mr. Farley served with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He retired in 1996 from Fairbanks Scales, where he was a scale technician.

The couple are members of Memorial Baptist Church and the National Disaster Relief Team.
