Cortland Banks has made several personnel moves.

Peggy Bailey of Canfield was hired as an assistant vice president and community banking manager for Cortland Banks’ Boardman Victor Hills Plaza and North Lima offices. Bailey had been a vice president and business relationship specialist at First Place Bank. She received an associate’s degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Christopher Madura of Niles will become portfolio manager, based out of the Cortland office, effective Feb. 1. He is an assistant vice president and community banking manager for the Niles and Vienna offices. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University.

Michael Annichine of Poland is being transferred to the Niles and Vienna offices, where he will serve as an assistant vice president and community banking manager, effective Feb. 1. He has been community banking manager for the Boardman and North Lima offices.

LEGAL

Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd., a Youngstown-based law firm, announced that Matthew Gurbach of Liberty has been elected to membership in the firm, which makes him one of the owners. Gurbach has been with HHM since 2003 and works in the firm’s Youngstown office. He is a 2003 graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland. He earned undergraduate degrees in history and American studies from Youngstown State University.

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, the nation’s third-largest labor and employment law firm, has added John Gerak, formerly of Warren, to its Cleveland office. He will be a shareholder with the firm. Gerak had been an attorney with Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, a Columbus-based law firm. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in business administration from Fontbonne University and a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

MEDICINE

FARRELL, Pa. — Three surgeons formerly affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital of the West Penn Allegheny Health System will join UPMC on Feb. 1 and will see patients at UPMC Horizon. Dr. M. Lance Weaver, Dr. James Valuska Jr. and Dr. Thomas Lheureau will establish a new practice, Northern Area Surgical Associates - UPMC. Dr. Weaver earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. Dr. Valuska earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and Dr. Lheureau earned his medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania. All three surgeons completed postgraduate training at Allegheny General Hospital.

CONSTRUCTION

Chris Becker of Sharon, Pa., has been promoted to president of G.W. Becker in Hermitage, Pa. He has been with the company since 1994 and has more than 20 years of overhead crane and hoist experience in estimating, sales, production, application engineering and administration. Also, Tom Barron of Ellsworth has been promoted to vice president. He has 30 years of manufacturing experience in accounting, finance, administration, sales and production.

BOARDMAN — Henry Schein Medical Systems in Boardman has hired several people as software support specialists. Paul Chaney Jr. had been an information technology manager at Valley Counseling Services. He is a graduate of Kent State University’s Trumbull campus. Lisa Puskar had been a quality assurance specialist at Fidelity National Information Services. She has a bachlor’s degree in information technology from Youngstown State University. James Gratz was tire department service manager at Sam’s Club. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Youngstown State University.

MARKETING

Rochelle Landy has joined the Keynote Media Group as vice president of client services. She comes to the Youngstown-based marketing and public relations firm with more than 15 years of experience, including having been client relations director for P&W Marketing and the Prodigal Media Co.
