Tress-Shotwell engagement is being announced

POLAND — The engagement of Mary Elizabeth Tress, 35 Crosscreek Drive, No. Q6, Charleston, S.C., and Matthew Stephen Shotwell, 35 Crosscreek Drive, No. C5, also in Charleston, is being announced by parents of the bride-elect, John and Marianne Tress, 1637 Bluebell Trail, Poland.

Parents of the future groom are Wesley and Lisa Shotwell, 1204 Fredericksburg Road, Johnson City, Tenn.

Miss Tress graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a bachelor’s degree in marine biology and earned a master’s degree in applied marine science at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Mr. Shotwell earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.

The engaged couple are third-year students in the biostatistics program at the Medical University of South Carolina, where they will receive their doctorates in the spring of 2010.

Invitations will be issued for the wedding they have planned for 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at Holy Family Church and for their evening reception at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.
