HUBBARD

Jan. 2

Theft: A former employee of a Hubbard trucking company told police he checked a box he received from the company that he said deliberately failed to include all of his belongings.

Bad check: A Christian Avenue man reported getting a bad check from another township man.

Jan. 5

Menacing: A man alleged an uncle staying at a West Park Avenue residence pointed a gun at another family member.

Weapon: An officer working a security detail at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., retrieved a potential weapon from a student, though the report didn’t indicate the type.

Menacing: A Hubbard woman accused her former husband of threatening her.

Jan. 6

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 800 block of North Main Street led to the arrest of a Youngstown man wanted on four warrants, one of which charged him with possession of marijuana.

LIBERTY

Jan. 2

Misuse of a credit card: A Powers Avenue man checked his account online and found a fraudulent transaction that had been made in Oklahoma City.

Identity fraud: An East Montrose Avenue man reported being denied credit from a Las Vegas bank and an El Paso, Texas, store, but that he never applied for credit from either.

Theft: A Trumbull Court woman reported the theft of four pill bottles from her apartment.

Theft: A woman stopped in traffic in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue told police another woman got into her vehicle and stole $30 from her purse.

Drugs: Officers checked the welfare of someone in a vehicle in the 4200 block of Logan Gate Road and arrested a man, 21, and a woman, 23, both of Hubbard, and charged them with possession of heroin and drug-abuse instruments. Two bags of suspected heroin were in a pouch; also found was a metal spoon for heroin use and a syringe, a report showed.

Drug paraphernalia: A 48-year-old Youngstown man was pulled over near Roosevelt Drive and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension. A metal crack pipe was found, police said.

Jan. 3

Theft: Five people in a group ate at Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., one of whom failed to pay an $8 food bill.

Theft: A 42-year-old Youngstown man was charged in the theft of a $107 cell phone from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave.

Jan. 4

Theft: A man fled Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., without paying for a package of potatoes, two packages of fish and a frozen dinner. The items were recovered, though.

Bad check: The Ohio State Highway Patrol turned a Youngstown man, 27, over to Liberty police. He was wanted on two warrants charging him with passing bad checks.

Criminal damaging: A Green Acres Drive man reported someone broke a storm window with a baseball bat, causing $400 damage.

Theft: A Youngstown man, 23, faced a charge after a bottle of vodka and other alcoholic beverages were stolen from Giant Eagle.

Criminal damaging: A Virginia Trail man saw that someone drove over his mailbox.

Jan. 6

Robbery/drugs: Authorities, with assistance from the Northeast Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police, took into custody a 34-year-old Slippery Rock, Pa., man at a Liberty Street motel on a warrant charging him with aggravated robbery. Also arrested was a 30-year-old Butler, Pa., woman on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and drug-abuse instruments. Two hypodermic needles were found, a report said.

Domestic violence: A 38-year-old Liberty Street man was arrested at his home and charged after his daughter alleged the intoxicated man pushed her several times onto a couch and struck her in the left eye.

Recovered property: Police found a 1995 Toyota Camry in Youngstown with some damage after a Youngstown man reported it had been stolen while he was at a Belmont Avenue gas station.

Theft: An Oakland Drive woman reported her 6-year-old son’s Nintendo game and various other games missing.

Theft: Poland Village Police handed a Struthers man, 26, to Liberty authorities. He was wanted on a warrant from the township.

Menacing: An irate customer threatened to use a soda bottle to strike an employee at Movie Gallery, 3551 Belmont Ave., and made a threatening gesture as if to reach for a weapon after she refused to allow him to use someone else’s rental card.

GIRARD

Jan. 4

Criminal mischief: A Poland man’s truck tires were slashed in the 400 block of Wellman Avenue.

Breaking and entering: An East Prospect Street boy discovered an Xbox 360 game system, a camcorder, a Sony PlayStation 2 system and two cell phones missing from his residence. Police said they found no signs of forced entry.

Jan. 5

Drugs: A 15-year-old student faced a charge of drug abuse after an official with Girard High School, 31 N. Ward Ave., reported a possible drug sale in the cafeteria. The teen was accused of buying a bag of suspected marijuana from another student, who was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

Aggravated menacing: An East Howard Street man reported receiving eight unwanted phone messages, on one of which the caller implied that the man would be killed.

Identity fraud: An East Broadway Avenue man reported getting a $494 bill for a stay in a local hospital’s emergency room, yet he was never there, he told police.

Jan. 6

Theft: A Boardman man reported six boxes of purses, a box of men’s work boots, five boxes of men’s jeans and a global positioning system unit stolen from a van while near U.S. Route 422.
