New Castle getting new recycling schedule

STAFF REPORT

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Mayor Anthony Mastrangelo announced a new recycling schedule for city residents will go into effect next week.

Under the new schedule, he said recyclables will be collected once a month, on Fridays, rather than twice a month.

If there are five Fridays in a month, there will be no recyclables picked up on the fifth Friday.

The mayor said the change was made because of increased costs and because the refuse department is short-handed. By switching to Fridays, the city can have two trucks collecting recyclables, he noted.

Recyclables will be collected on Fridays according to this schedule:

UIf your garbage is collected on Mondays, recycling will be the first Friday.

UIf your garbage is collected on Tuesdays, recycling will be the second Friday.

UIf your garbage is collected on Wednesday, recycling will be the third Friday.

UIf your garbage is collected on Thursday, recycling will be the fourth Friday.
